Although Wickerbeasts are not magical in the sense of: breathing fire, manipulating planes of existence, or other fantastical feats; they can produce their own artificial wonders. During Ancient times, wickerbeasts were almost seen as otherworldly as a result of practicing crude forms of chemistry from their environment from forming "ever-lasting" fires to studying decomposition and using the bacteria to their advantage. Nowadays, these practices have been nearly perfected to what is known as current day Alchemy. Wickers native born tend to have a more ritualistic approach in practice based on nature and philosophy thus becoming more as a type of Shaman.
Shamanistic Alchemy is more focused on construction rather than destruction with creations of various elixirs fabled to grant incredible strength, heightened agility, and many other favorable outcomes.
To the opposite ends of the world are those who practice Alchemy in cities, whom over time have favored a more scientific approach. This contrast developed during the early warring eras with captured wickers. Those who survived had their abilities used for destructive purposes to aid in development of nations and strengthen what is now known as the Royal Army of Norcliff. These wickers are mainly known as Alchemists due to cities having coined the word over time. In contrast to their Shaman brethren, Alchemist wickers tend to combine their knowledge of alchemy with mechanics and approach things with a more logical atmosphere. Some of their products have been golems ( walking armor with an artificial made core/engine), bombs, and much more.
In general, wickerbeasts just starting out in the field of Alchemy fall under the title of " Herbalist" with a concentration of knowledge of chemicals and reactions before branching out and gaining more experience. While both Shamans and Alchemists have interchangeable abilities, native-born have a natural affinity to the restorative route while city wickers are more mechanical.
