Wickerbeast Behavior
Most wickerbeasts prefer the company of their own species but can be receptive of others. In general they are social beings who do best in large, thriving communitites, but this can vary from wicker to wicker. They are highly intellligent, some even being able to decipher ancient texts but that often gets overlooked by their brute strength. Wickerbeats are very hands-on and quickly learn tasks that involve any type of physical labor. Some can grow bored of everyday activities and choose to pick up more complex ventures such as the arcane arts. Their vocals have been described as near similar to raptors, but can mimic the sounds of other creatures, human voices, and even object sounds. These abilities are mostly used to their advantage while hunting using bait and capture methods, mimicing sounds or voices their target is most familiar with and bringing their guard down before making a strike. Outside of hunting, common forms of communication are through short burts of their vocals but they can speak human language for those unfamiliar with "Wick Speak". Wickers are stictly carnivorous when it comes to their diet, only resorting to fruits and vegetation under extreme circumstances such as food shortages. They consume up to 3x their own body weight and can live off of fat stored within their bodies up to a month. Along with their carnivore diet, they much prefer fresh kill but are known on occassion to scavenge corpses if necessary. |
Wickerbeasts always walk upright on their two feet, but can go
on all fours during hunting to aid in speed and agility. Wickers have different personalities but overall are very open and accepting of one another. There are times when their tempers get the best of them and brawls occur, but they usually end within minutes and forgiveness is given. With this being said, wickers are very confrontational and most do not stand down if they feel they are in the right. In the face of danger, many band together to defeat a single target. Some fight with their bare fists while others prefer the aid of a weapon. In their more loving and affectionate state of mind, they express care a variety of ways from physical affection to giving gifts; the larger the gift the more affection they're trying to express. Areas completely off limits to strangers are their ears, tails, and horns. They only allow those extremely close to them touch them. While some thrive off of company there are those who prefer silence amongst themselves. These wickers aren't treated any different from their extroverted kin, but they can possibly get into more fights if exposed to other wickers too long and become moody and more irritable. Due to this, those that prefer their own company become hermits and build a life outside clans and villages and only enter for the occasional visit with friends and family. |

Wickerbeasts and Humans
Due to their long standing tension with humans, wickers
generally try their best to stay as far away from all human
contact as possible, some even developing extreme phobias
of humans.
Most try to remain as calm as possible in a human's presense
but the longer they have to stay around them the more irritated
they can become. Some become very stressed if they have to be
around them for more than a week and begin to display stress
induced behavior such as claw biting, excessively plucking hairs
from their body, and loss of sleep and appetite.
At times, there are some who have developed nerves of steel or
have very minor fits of worry around them and are chosen to act
as messangers and ambassdors between the two.
Even more rare are those who genuinely prefer the company of
humans and have an almost pet-like view of them. These wickers
display affection towards humans the same way they would their
brethren but in a more toned down fashion due to cultural barriers
and build difference so not to accidentally cause harm. Those that
have an attraction to human life eventually move onto cities as
soon as the opportunity strikes and try their best to intergrate into
human society all while still keeping some parts of their own
culture alive.
