Anatomy & Sub-types

IMPORTANT

Traits all typings share regardless are the pair of "backwards" ears,
4-clawed hand, 3 toes, and pupil-less eyes.

NO EXCEPTIONS

All subtypes are open.

If you have questions in regards to a possible deviation in design regarding your wickerbeast,
please contact one of staff for further assistance.

Standard
The most common of all sighted sub-types that reside in the mainland areas:
forests, caves, cities, and etc. They sport all the mandatory traits of: "backwards"
ears, 4-clawed hands, 3 toes (toes with claws are optional),  short fur all over
their body save for some patches of longer fur such as elbow tufts, mane-like
hair, and pupil-less eyes. They are allowed to have a mane that goes down their back and tail,
however there will be no "fluffy" tail tip like kingbeasts have.

Limitations
○ No fluffy tail tips
○ Horns must be same size + shape
○ Must have horns

Over all Traits
○ "Backwards" ears
○ Four hand claws
○ Three toes
○ Short rectangular muzzle
○ Pupil-less eyes
○ Horns
○ No tail tuft on the tip
○ Standard Height: 5"1-8"1

Picture

Kingbeast

Kingbeasts are one of the mutations of the Standard sub-typing but held with much
higher regard and are more rare. Kingbeasts are much larger than all other sub-types,
possessing exaggerated traits such as: Larger claws and ears, larger amounts of fur
patches and mane hair and etc. Kingbeast births are at a 10% likelihood. Ex: if there
are 8 in a litter, it is likely but not guaranteed one will be born a king.

Limitations
○ Horns must be same size + shape
○ Must have horns

Over all Traits
○  "Backwards" ears
○  Four hand claws
○  Three toes
○  Short rectangular muzzle
○  Pupil-less eyes
○  Horns
○  Various amounts of mane hair and tail tuft
○  Standard Height: 6"5-13"

Standard & Kingbeast Tails

Please note that fox-like, or wolf-like tails are a furvilla, and hybrid feature. Furvilla wickerbeasts are not considered canon and will not be approved as a real wickerbeast via canon lore. The only time a fox-like or wolf-like tail will be accepted is if it is a hybrid artist made creation, or if it is a kingbeast with a docked tail. If it has a docked tail - it must be clearly stated on the ref.

Swamp
Swamp wickerbeasts are similar to their terrain cousins but have their own special
traits to help them with their natural habitat hence their name. Swamp wickerbeasts
always have small webbed claws and toes, a thinner and less bulky build, along with an
alligator-like tail sporting patches of scales along them. Swamp wickers are the only
subspecies allowed to have: spikes, spines, or scales on the tails/back.  They are allowed to have a mane that goes down their back
and tail (between the spikes),
however there will be no "fluffy" tail tip like kingbeasts have.

Limitations
○ No fins on the tail, only
small spikes

○ No other fins on the body besides
hand/toe fins between fingers
○ Horns must be same size + shape
○ Must have horns

Over all Traits
○  "Backwards" ears
○ Webbed four hand claws
○ Webbed three toes
○ Short rectangular muzzle
○ Pupil-less eyes
○ Horns
○ Mane hair
○ Thick Alligator-like tail
○ Standard Height: 5"1-8"1

Please note that scales can only be on the underside and on tail area, not the stomach, or any other part of the body.
Spikes going up the tail and spine are perfectly okay - but anywhere else is hybrid territory and will not be allowed. Cheek fins are also a hybrid territory feature and will not be allowed.

Rogue
Rogue wickerbeasts are the common mutation of the Standard sub-typing.
Considered the "runts of the litter" rogue wickerbeasts are the smallest of
all the sub-types having no horns at all and possessing the smallest amount
of mane hair.  Rogue wickerbeast births occur as a 1:6 ratio within a normal
clutch of eggs ( a healthy female produces 6-8) . They can have a regular small mane, however they will
not be able to have a lot of extra furry patches if it is concentrated there.

Limitations
○ Minimal mane hair

○ No horns whatsoever

Over all Traits
○  "Backwards" ears
○  Four hand claws
○  Three toes
○  Short rectangular muzzle
○  Pupil-less eyes
○  Small amounts of mane hair
○  Standard Height: 4"6-6"6

Palegics
Palegics are a subtype of wickerbeasts that are distantly related to swamp wickerbeasts. They live in the deep water in communities or in isolation. They are a tad different than swamps in that they have gills that are always on the cheek area. Their skin is very similar to a shark and has a sandpaper-like consistency. There is not much fluff to these creatures so their mane stays around their neck with little to no other fur patches. Very small coral can sometimes grow in specific places such as the tail, thighs, shoulders, and horn areas. Their fur is similar to the composition of an otters and aids in swimming. They can swim up to 35-45 MPH.

They are currently not allowed to have hybrid mixtures.

Adoptables are allowed to be sold as of 1/25/2021

Limitations
○ Corals are not allowed to be large.
○ No white or black corals
○ No other fins are on the tail besides
the underside of the tail tip (no dorsals).
○ No dorsal on the spine
○ Must have horns

Over all Traits
○  "Backwards" ears
○  Four hand claws
○  Three toes
○ Cheek Gills
○ Optional tail scales
○ Small fins under arms, between
claws, and toes.
○ Tiny bits of corals on body

○  Short rectangular muzzle
○  Pupil-less eyes
○  Small amounts of mane hair
○
Palegics can range from the size of standards
to the sizes of kingbeasts.

Dwellers
Dwellers are the... mixture of deformed traits of other wickerbeasts. Due to consistent inbreeding and genetic mutations, Dwellers tend to have strange features. They are skinny and lanky, with ribs often showing. Dwellers always have an incredibly apparent nose horn for digging and combat. The ears on a Dweller always have a cropped look. Horns can be different shapes and different sizes unlike the other subtypes. Two wickerbeast claws formed on their tail. Instead of treating this as a flaw, they use these two claws to hold small items and in combat. The claws on the tails can be large, long, short, or small. Sometimes, their eyesight isn't great (or they are blind). They can dig up to 30 MPH.

Dwellers often are community based, but sometimes they do go rogue. It is fairly uncommon to see a dweller,
and they are regularly shunned in some clans due to unfair "beauty" standards.

Dweller nose horns can be cracked and partially broken! Horns can also be cracked.

They are currently not allowed to have hybrid mixtures.

Adoptables are allowed to be sold as of 1/25/2021

Limitations
○ They do not get any larger than standards
○ Horns and nose horn cannot be gemstones.
○ Must have horns

Over all Traits
○  "Backwards" cropped ears
○ Lanky

○  Four hand claws
○  Three toes
○ Two tail claws
○ Mane is never a full mane,
sometimes goes a little down back however.
○ Mane and fur is a bit untended.

○  Short rectangular muzzle
○  Pupil-less eyes
○ Dwellers can range from the size of
rogues to the sizes of standards.

Aerion
Aerion are the subtype of wickerbeasts that are closely related to 'sugar-gliders.' This specific subtype have a patagium ("fin") underneath their arm for ariel movements such as gliding. They have a pouch-like neck with scent glands embedded. However the most notable thing about the Aerion subtype is the large talon and club-like tail that aid in flying and hunting. The tip of their tails can be razor sharp and even sharpened to be more deadly. The horns they have are of a crown variety, with female crowns being slightly larger.

Aerion can be communal or solitary.

They are currently not allowed to have hybrid mixtures.

Adoptables are allowed to be sold as of 2/1/2021

Limitations
○ They do not get any larger than standards
○ Smaller than average wickerbeast ears

○ Horns must be in the crown formation, no other horn-shape
○ Must have talon, rudder-tail, rabbit nose, and patagium

Over all Traits
○  "Backwards" smaller ears
○  Four hand claws
○  Three toes, with one large talon
○ Patagium
○ Club-like rudder tail
○ Mane is more like an air-pouch.

Wickerbeast Eye Reference

Picture
Eye Information
As stated within the reference, eye colors of wickerbeasts have various appearances from singular colors to a gradient hue. While they do
not have an iris most retain relatively well eyesight, but still depend heavily on smell and hearing. Due to the sensitive nature of their eyes at birth, many attempt to have their young in moderately lit areas or risk accidental blindness. Another trait of wickerbeast eyes would also be retro reflection or eye shine in darkly lit places.

Skeletal System
If there is one phrase to describe a wickerbeast it is brute force. The skeleton of a wickerbeast is incredibly dense in order to support their large mass. Overall, the skeleton can weigh 20% of a wicker's weight ensuring heavy impact damage from a charge. To counter this the skeletal system is comprised mainly of compact bone.  As they go through old age, are susceptible to things such as arthritis and hip dysplasia more so the King sub-typing due to having such a massive body.

Due to the jagged structure of their mouths along with possession of strong pressure force, deliver a powerful bite. The jagged portion of the mouth continues to have an extra grip as the teeth penetrate flesh in a lockjaw type fashion. Any motions while in this grip may cause further tearing sometimes right down to the bone.

As hatchlings do possess baby teeth, these do fall out to accommodate their adult set. An average adult will have 50 and as they wear down will be replaced.

Picture

Muscular System
With wickerbeasts being described as walking tanks expect musculature to match just that. Their strong thighs act as a powerhouse of energy due to vast amounts of mitochondria; combine this with their sturdy hind-legs have the capability of producing long running strides for maximum impact along with great leaps.

The tail is one long, thick muscle in itself which is used as both a weapon and to keep their balance when charging enabling acute turns. Weapon wise, wickers will use their tail as whip throwing their whole body into the motion with an end result of stunning or knocking their opponent off their feet.

Wickerbeast limbs are just as powerful as their thighs enabling them to master heavy weaponry such as axes and swords.
