Osovian backstory

To find a more detailed timeline, please see our timeline page here!

Picture
In the world of Osova, various beings have roamed the world co-
existing for centuries. Some have continued to live peacefully des-
spite differences, but others have felt it is best to keep to themselves due to constant conflict occurring amongst them.. Wickerbeasts are one of
the main populace that adhere to this ideology, thus ceasing contact
from other Osovians namely humans due to their strained history.

Wickerbeasts are an ancient monster race with a somewhat humanoid appearance that at one time shared territories with all other Osovians. These creatures are impervious to most magic used against them, and while not born magical, with enough training can practice alchemy. They are more mischievous than harmful in most cases holding cunning and wit in high regards. Due to their headstrong disposition, brawls can result periodically, but amends are easily made afterward. Because of this, wickerbeasts over time have often been assumed to be thieves or savages and attacked on-sight.

As a result of the unwarranted attacks on them over thousands of years, the natural fear and hatred of those non-wicker has been instilled in them through the generations. In efforts of self preservation, the majority of their
habitats are hidden away with leaving your tribe considered a dishonorable offense.
Some have tolerance towards non-wickers and can interact with them,
but it has to be on their own terms, and even then tensions are high.

The largest conflict to date which resulted in the rift of Wickerbeast and Human relations was a 20 year long war known as "The Culling". The Culling were a series of orchestrated attacks by Osovian humans focusing on wiping wickerbeast kind off the map.

Eventually a truce was made with humans to remain far away from marked wickerbeast territory. If any interactions were necessary, they were to remain outside village limits and unarmed for the duration of their visit. For wickers, if they choose the path of city life they may only live there under a sponsorship along with a year long probation period.

If three penalties are received within the year, the sponsorship is revoked following removal from the city walls. All information is recorded under what is known as a "city ordinance" card with it  being mandatory to be on your person at all times.

Wickers whom are a city resident, such as Wicker himself, can find work being placed in the city guard. Most physical jobs are the sure way to live a comfortable life as it guarantees an occupation fitting for their nature and build, along with a little respect from the locals.

Even now generations after "The Culling" there are those who lurk in the shadows waiting for a chance at vengeance, forging even the most unlikely allegiance .

Wicker himself is currently training to become a Paladin of Alderwyn with hopes of preventing another disastrous war, and all Osovians can coexist like ancient times.
